Web Advertising
My friend just started a website for bikers. It is an online classifieds for used motorcycles. It’s somewhat like Craigslist but the only difference is the website specializes on Motorcycles and motorcycle accessories only.
He himself is a biker, he owns more than three motorcycles including a KTM adventure (which I really admire). Other than loving his motorcycles and taking it one at a time on his road trips all over U.S., my friend is also a shrewd businessman. He seems to have a Midas touch in every business he starts.
An idea of developing an online classifieds for used motorcycles came to his mind. He knows a lot about motorcycles but having a web base business seems a challenge to him.
We did some research on web advertising, including the Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Let me tell you folks, it doesn’t come cheap at all. The SEO companies will lay down plans on how they will make your website number 1 in Google or Yahoo or any search engine. The promise of visibility in the web seems really enticing, the only problem is the high cost. Your $15,000.00 can disappear in less than two months.
But I should thank the weblogs and personal e-mail invitations (which sometimes mistakenly called “spamming”). They saved us a lot of money. Its hard work and time consuming but you learn a lot a long the way.

The website is still a toddler, but we are sure glad to know that there are other options rather than paying marketing and advertising companies thousands of dollars just to get a small space in the web.
